King Salmon or Opakapaka Sterling Silver Necklace
King Salmon or Opakapaka Sterling Silver Necklace
The King Salmon in this necklace was caught by Krystal while fishing in her off time from commercial fishing in SE Alaska aboard a commercial power troller.
The fish used in this Opakapaka necklace was caught off the Maui coast by Capt. Amanda Padilla of Kapa Sungear.
Also known as Hawaiian Snapper, Opakapaka dwells between 100 and 600 feet deep.
The king salmon was designated the state fish of Alaska in 1962. Some salmon travel more than 2,000 river miles over a 60-day period to reach their home streams. Each female salmon deposits from 3,000 to 14,000 eggs in several gravel nests.
